Linear Equations

This is an introductory unit to the study of straight lines.  This is where we will first learn to use variables to help represent straight lines.  Yes, the beginning of the dreaded algebra that causes fear and panic in so many.  Hopefully by the end of the unit, it will not be so intimidating to either the students or their parents!

Key concepts in this unit will involve:

 1. The Cartesian Plane (Co-Ordinate Plane)

2. Plotting of coordinate pairs on this grid

3.  Introduction to variables and equations.

4. Solving simple equations through the use of both algebra tiles and math algorithms.
